(A.L.P.)

No more hassle or need to bus to outside facilities for preschool

environments and learning experiences.

Thematic units, fundamental curriculum; (ABC's, numbers, shapes,

sounds, etc.).  Transitional learning, small and large group learning

environments; (circle times, story time, singing etc.)

Cultural enrichment programming; (Music, Arts, Creative Expression,

Simple sciences, Social skills, cooking etc.).  Scheduled active learning

sessions (play-stations)

What is A.L.P. Preschool?

Children working (play) in an environment that is established for learning through play experiences.

These experiences are set up in time and stations (area's) segments that the child will

rotate at their pace of work (play) through the preschool day.  This will be accomplished

with Teacher guided-hands on learning opportunities.  There also will be small group

educating, such as circle time, stories, singing, etc.

This type of learning environment has been labeled play “stations”.  A new term? no not really.  

Stations have been around in the preschool environments for decades.  

This is the idea of several play and learns areas set up for active learning

(playing with an educational outcome).

For instance the water table station - children playing with water, but what are they

 learning: hand/eye coordination, such as pouring from cup to cup.  Additionally,

problem solving is learned (how much will the cup hold), language development,

sensory experiences, math and much more.

The morning of A.L.P. would be filled with many adult directed play/learn stations.  

All with the outcome of meeting the preparation of the child for the school environment,

thus, Pre-School.

A.L. Program has been established to specifically meet the needs as to

eliminating outside preschool programming.

A.L.P. will be held week beginning in Oct. thru April.  Currently sessions

are being held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:15 - 11:00 AM.  

There is not an activity fee for this program. However extra enrichment

programs may be added at additional fees, i.e. music, art computer

 programs. A.L.P. will not be held on school district days off & holidays.

I tried to teach children with books;

They gave me only puzzled looks.

I tried to teach children with words;

They passed them by often unheard.

Despairingly, I turned aside;

"How shall I teach these children" I cried?

Into my hand they put the key,

"Come", they said, "Play with me."
